The Design Associate position is at the core of our operation! It’s a dynamic role combining product design, drafting, project and production management, estimating, and client relations; perfect for someone who wants to be at the heart of a thriving business. Successful candidates may be experienced and will be self-motivated, autonomous, meticulous with details, and personally invested in the success of our company.

Sheet metal fabrication experience isn’t necessary to hire on, but it is for the job, so we’ll teach you! This means you’ll start out in the workshop and learn alongside our talented craftspeople!

Essential Responsibilities

Design & Drafting

• New and existing product 2D design and modifications
• Drafting (2D) sheet metal layouts/templates
• Quantity take-offs

Production Management

• Project initiation, tracking, and reporting
• Cost-estimating and fee proposal preparation

Client Management

• Phone and email communications; answer client questions; respond to concerns; receive and distribute messages to the appropriate parties
• Service walk-in customers – this can require both patience and leadership, as our showroom and extensive product line can sometimes overwhelm customers
• Service professional clients, typically architects and interior designers
• Follow-up with clients after initial contact

Required experience/skills:

• AutoCAD: 2 years
• Understanding of architectural drawings
• Understanding of geometry
• Client service
• Use of typical office computer applications
• A ‘mechanical’ aptitude

Desired Qualifications
